2024 came in slinging with a surprise gift, and inside, we unwrap the rebirth of alternative rock indie band Rainbow Kitten Surprise. For the first time in six years, the North Carolina-bred band unleashed a new album, possibly their magnum opus, Love Hate Music Box. With 22 fresh tracks to their discography, RKS launches a U.S. headlining tour with 35 dates this Fall, with one stop at Gas South Arena on October 18th.
The band's latest and featured album, Love Hate Music Box, is etched with Melo's darkest years, seemingly overflowing in vulnerability in its 22 tracks. The album, which was produced by Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves) along with Konrad Snyder (Noah Kahan), takes a different form from RKS usual style, but was met with critical praise from Billboard, Consequence, Paste, and more. The lead vocalist teased that the concert will feature "plenty of new stuff," which meant that audiences will experience the sparkling shifts of the band's style throughout their performance.
Get caught up in their beautifully painful hooks in heavy and dark "Sickset," "Code Blue," "Low as we Go" and "Ghoul." Synths also take its raw form in their new tracks such as "Peter Pan" and "LOL." The band also revels in fun, a break from the dark, almost like a confirmation that they're in a better place, in songs like "Hot Pink Ice Cube," "John Woo," and "Bearwalk." Their disregard for genre boundaries is a welcome blast of freedom, an attribute that makes their live performances so fun.
